Pocketmodel. Summer 2008 Of all the magazines TwoMorrows puts out I have to admit I like Rough Stuff the best. Not that the other magazines are bad-they’re all good and make interesting reads. I like Rough Stuff because it allows me to see professional comic book artists’ work in the planning stages form rough pencils to finished pencils and inks. I’m privy to their secrets about layout, page design, character design, use of line and shading and all of the other elements that make for a good drawing. This issue is especially interesting as Rough Stuff looks at the work of Joe Jusko (penciller, inker and painter), inker Scott Williams, Filipino superstar Mel Rubi and quiet genius Rob Haynes. For a real feel of what it takes to be a professional comic book artist, cartoonist, illustrator or painter, be sure pick up a copy of Rough Stuff for a healthy dose of artistic reality.
